The character of Munna in DHOBI GHAT is an ardent fan of Salman Khan. He is also seen sporting a bracelet akin to the DABANGG star. Says Kiran, "Munna is a fan of Salman Khan. If you look at his slum room, it is full of Salman's pictures. He wants to be an actor. He also has pictures of Katrina Kaif because we were shooting at a time when he was seeing Katrina."Kiran Rao also wanted to have Salman in a guest appearance in DHOBI GHAT. The director reveals, "When I wrote an early draft I wanted to have Munna meet Salman. But later on, it didn't fit in the script. However, Salman is very much part of my film in terms of Munna's connection with him. It's a tribute to Salman. I love Salman." She further goes on to add, "Salman is that actor who appeals to young people all over the country. His popularity is universal. He is a huge influence to a lot of people.
